Picnic Day: February 25, 2025 (Ferguson’s Paddock, Hurstbridge)
Our annual Picnic Day began with the playing of nine holes of Canadian Foursomes on the front and back holes of Yarrambat Park GC. The winning pairs were Chris King and Vinka Heagerty (front 9) and Pat Cook and Ruth Winyard (Back 9). After golf we travelled up to Fergusons Paddock, Hurstbridge, where we picnicked under the shade of the gazebo (thoughtfully cleaned by Bill Leonard), utilising the booked coffee van for some refreshments. Estelle’s beautifully presented raffles raised a significant amount for our charity fundraising. The much anticipated annual Gumboot Throwing Competition was keenly contested in the afternoon sunshine. Wendy Morton won the trophy with an amazing toss (using her now familiar shotput turn to achieve the longest distance (twice)): she will reciprocate by providing a bottle of wine for the prize winner next year.

22nd Annual Yarrambat Park Bowl
The Yarrambat Park Bowl, the YPLGC annual Invitational event, was held on Friday 6th September. Invitations to send representative teams were extended to Victorian VGA-affiliated clubs and local non-affiliated clubs. The Qualifying round for YPLGC representatives (A, B and C Grade) was played on Tuesday 13th August. Two teams were selected to represent YPLGC: Team 1 - Jacqui Lamoureux, Helen Cain and Helen Hodgson; Team 2 - Lorraine Maddalena, Pat Cook (replacing Estelle Condon who was unavailable) and Janet Ross. The YPLGC hosted the event at Yarrambat Park Golf Club, with a shot gun start at 8am after a briefing from Club Captain, Annette Stott.
Fortunately, this year the weather was suitable for 18 holes of play: though the wind was blowing, the rain held off. Club representatives and visiting players subsequently enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Grasslands Cafe and participated in the fundraising raffle, again beautifully organised by Committee member Wendy Macdonald.
The Yarrambat Bowl winner was the YPLGC team of Jacqui Lamoureux (21) (34 points), Helen Cain (28) (30 points) and Helen Hodgson (33) (33 points) by a one point margin from the second YPLGC team of Lorraine Maddalena (21) (35 points), Pat Cook (28) (32 points) and Janet Ross (38) (29 points) , with a team from Heidelberg GC finishing in 3rd place. Pink Day/Guest Day 28 May
On 28 May, we held our annual Pink Day/Guest Day which began with 9 holes of Ambrose. We had a great turn out of members and supporters dressed in their brightest pink gear, ready to raise much-needed funds for Breast Cancer Research trials. During the afternoon’s presentations we recognised a number of our own members who were breast cancer survivors, emphasising that this illness touches us all in some way.
Everyone who attended was treated to a lovely buffet lunch provided by the members, as well as pre-lunch cheese platters following the completion of play. Thank you to all members who donated food and raffle/auction goods, to YPGC Pro Brock Gillard and Assistant Pro Matt Allan for each donating a (popular) golf lesson, as well as a golf bag and shirt for auctioning, to Ali Berechree (Community Inclusion Officer) and the Grasslands Cafe staff, and to Matt Weisheit (Belgavia Management) and staff for their support and donations. Thanks too to the hard working Committee who contributed much to the day’s success.
The raffles this year, as always beautifully presented by Wendy Macdonald, raised a stunning $750! Our Club Captain Stotty was again “Auctioneer Extraordinaire” running a fun and lucrative auction which brought in $1835.
As a result of these fundraising efforts, a donation of $2850 was made to Breast Cancer Research trials.

21st Annual Yarrambat Park Bowl
The Yarrambat Park Bowl, the YPLGC annual Invitational event, was held on Friday 8th September. Invitations to send representative teams were extended to Victorian VGA-affiliated clubs and local non-affiliated clubs. The Qualifying round for YPLGC representatives (A, B and C Grade) was played on Tuesday 8th August. Two teams were selected to represent YPLGC: Team 1 - Marcia Velo, Estelle Condon and Dorothy Umana; Team 2 - Sandra Rowles, Beth Fox and Dru Kett. The YPLGC hosted the event at Yarrambat Park Golf Club, with a shot gun start at 8am. Unfortunately, the event was marred by extreme weather, with severe winds (gusting up to 60km/hr) forcing the cancellation of the event approximately half way through the rounds. Nevertheless, the visiting players appreciated the priority placed on the safety of competitors, and subsequently enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Grasslands Cafe and participated in the fundraising raffle.

Pink Day/Guest Day
On 30 May, we held our annual Pink Day/Guest Day which began with 9 holes of Ambrose. We had a great turn out of members and supporters dressed in their brightest pink gear, ready to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research trials. We have a number of breast cancer survivors among our members - and one, Vinka, spoke eloquently about how the research we help to fund can provide much needed help to future women who receive a breast cancer diagnosis.
All who attended were treated to a lovely lunch provided by the members, as well as a beautiful cheese platter supplied by the Grasslands hospitality team (thanks Ali). Thank you to all members who donated food and goods, YPGC assistant Pro Matt for donating a golf lesson for auctioning, and the Belgavia management and staff for their support. Thanks too to the hard working Committee who contributed much to the day’s success. The raffles this year, beautifully presented by Wendy Macdonald, raised $485, and our Club Captain Stotty was again “Auctioneer Extraordinaire” running a fun and lucrative auction! A total of $2750 was raised for this very worthy cause.

Celebration Day: Tuesday March 14
Celebration Day at Yarrambat Park Ladies Golf Club gave us an opportunity to celebrate the lives of our members who are no longer with us, their legacy to our club , and what they mean to us. We also celebrated all the wonderful memories and friendships that YPLGC has given us over the years. (A sweet treat was provided for members to enjoy with their lunch.)
Picnic Day: February 28 (Yan Yean Reservoir)
On our annual Picnic Day, the weather was kind to us, and we played 9 holes of 4BBB at Yarrambat Park GC before heading to Yan Yean Reservoir for a Picnic Lunch.
